Peoria can suck my dick! ;)

Sorry I haven't posted recently. I had the BEST weekend with Chris! His Tuesday flight got delayed, which made me really happy because he got to stay an extra day. I miss him mucho right now.

I think I might move to San Antonio...

Some quotes-

Karina: Are you going to leave me and the baby, just like you father left you? (pause) Is it too soon?
Chris: It's been 20 years!

Chris: This has been the worst day ever! My flight gets canceled, Comfy's [he means "Cosi"] doesn't have pizza OR s'mores, you get us lost in the freezing snow, and then you have to go and knee me in the penis!

The Storm Before the Calm

Ugh, I hate finals...

BUT

I just need to get through the next 3 days, and then I get to see Chris!

Stop the presses!

I don't know when this happened, but... you can now poke yourself on facebook!

Also:

I made a little video and put it on youtube. Nothing too big, I was just tired of not having anything to work on in Final Cut, and I miss editing so much.

The end is near.

I have 35,000 words written so far, with 4 full days left of NaNoWriMo to go. That means I have to write 15,000 words until midnight on November 30th. THAT means I have to write at least 3,750 words a day in order to win this thing.

Can I do it? YES I CAN!

This probably means that I won't be able to really hang out with anyone when I get home, since I'll be spending the whole time writing.

I'm going home today, and I'll be back in HP at around 5pm. If anyone wants to hang out this weekend, I'm going to have my cell phone, so call me! and I might be able to tear myself away from my novel for a few hours.
"We are the heros of our own stories."--I don't know who said this, or if I said it, but it popped into my head the other day, and I realized that I completely forgot about the gray areas. I've been focusing too much on the black and white, both in life and in my writing, that I forgot that everything is a shade of gray.

Except in comic books, because the villain always wants to take over the world for some unknown reason and is always screaming "We're the bad guys! We need to beat the good guys!"

This is why kids only see good and bad when they're little, because they're not taught to see the gray areas.

So yeah, life is pretty good.

Gmail FINALLY offers theme choices!

I submitted a suggestion thing a while ago asking for this, because I always thought that gmail was quite boring with themes, but igoogle wasn't. So YAY! Now I'll actually enjoy looking at my email!

A commercial subtitle says:

"Real people. Not actors."

Does this mean that actors are not real people?

I love old cereal commercials...

and all old commercials in general.

arghablagahgda

I hate my headphones! I mean, I love them, they have amazing sound quality, and they cost like $100, which was definitely worth it...
BUT
recently, I can't listen to anything without the sound disappearing from one side or the other. If I want to listen to anything, I have to sit completely still, because any movement at all seems to turn my headphones from stereo to mono. It's so annoying! You have NO idea...

SO many things have been stressing me out for no reason lately. I wanna go home!

Oh, wait... I AM home!

Can I please stay?

Halloween has come and gone again. I didn't do anything special, just like last year. I don't think I'm ever going to celebrate Halloween again. It's just lost all the fun since I was a kid, when all we would do was trick-or-treat and eat candy. I tried to revive it by hosting Halloween parties at my house during high school, but who's gonna have fun if there isn't any alcohol involved?

My favorite movie is the Nightmare Before Christmas, and just watching that movie is enough Halloween fun for me.

Plus, it would be nice to have friends to celebrate with in the first place.

Anyway, there's bigger fish to fry.

NaNoWriMo starts in less than 2 hours, and I've been crackin' my knuckles to get ready for all that typing I'm going to do. I'm even in the perfect mood to type in first person as my melancholy main character. Present tense will be an interesting change too, lately it's been weirdly easy to type in the present rather than the past.

Hmm, I wonder if anyone writes in future tense?

Nah, that'd just be weird.

But maybe...

Throughout all of senior year I got myself all excited for college, but it just hasn't been living up to my expectations lately. I need a distraction. Hmm.

"As Karina glanced over to the sidebar of her blog, She realized this: She does have a distraction. National Novel Writing Month? Pssh, she's done that twice. No problemo. The perfect diversion from her current thoughts."

I'm know I'm weird, and I'm not sorry about it. Just nod and smile, and maybe I'll go away.

Well, this bodes well!

On facebook, I found this thing that analizes words in people's wall posts, then generates a graph based on how often certain words are mentioned over time. I searched "obama" and "mccain," and it looks like obama is more popular in the world of facebook. Check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/lexicon/index.php?q=mccain%2C%20obama

Before I die...

If there's one thing I must do before I die, it's to listen to every single podcast I have right now, and be consistent with listening to them as they come out. This is quite difficult, though, as I'm always busy, and have about 200 unplayed ones right now, AND I'm subscribed to so many different ones, which are constantly being updated. BUT it also means that I'm never going to die!

Mah tags arr awl RONG!

So, right now, I've decided to fix ALL my tags in iTunes. Artist, album, title... EVERYTHING! I don't know about genre though... that might be difficult.

Since I've downloaded a bunch of music from limewire, it's hard to tell if the song really is what the file name claims it to be. For example, I downloaded a song that I thought was by Belle & Sebastian, but it was really by a band called "Sin With Sebastian."

And a song I THOUGHT was by She and Him was really by some guy named Frank Thompson...

I love free music, but this is really annoying. Anyone else get this problem? I've discovered that if I have my Last.fm radio thing open when I listen to music, it tells me when the tags are awl rong! So I'm gonna fix them. ALL OF THEM!!!

edit: oh, and when I'm done with doing that to about 4000 songs, I'm going to get ALL the album art, dammit! Even if my widget snatches some random picture, that's gonna be my album art... this is the whole reason I'm fixing the album tags in the first place, so that my widget can find the right artwork for the albums, so I can see it when I use my iPod Touch, and so I can finally be at peace with my musical self. So far, it has been a difficult journey to reach this goal...

Worst Website Design EVOR!!1!

We're gonna tell you how much Obama sucks, but first try and navigate through our mishmash of windows that are too skinny and not wide enough for the text, links that are broken, and a looooong column of unlabed youtube videos that no one wants to watch. Oh, and don't forget the pixelized images!

I think the right part of my occipital lobe got all broke.

Karina @ MP3 Experiment!

The MP3 Experiment pics were uploaded! I found a couple with me in them. The first one was our "human tetris piece" and then you can almost see me in the second one, frozen jumping in midair. I can NOT wait until more of these things come to Chicago, they better!

Randomness

Last night I had a dream that I was a lesbian and was making out with one of my friends (I will not say who). then, I accidentally hired an assassin to kill a famous celebrity, which could have been Harry Potter, so he never got to star in any movies after "Goblet of Fire." Or it could have been Gaia Moore from the "Fearless" series I read in junior high. Maybe the assassin killed both? Hmm... Either way, the whole deviantart.com community got so angry at me for hiring the assassin (accidentally) so they kept sending me hate mail. Oh, and then Chris was white instead of Mexican, and I kept wondering why he would change that, or how that could happen.

Then I woke up an hour and a half after my alarm first went off.

Man, I love dreams.

P.S. Coincidentally, I'm listening to the "Fear of Sleep" episode of This American Life right now.

MP3 EXPERIMENT-NESS!!!

OH MAN!! Never have I ever hugged so many strangers (and inanimate objects), thumb warred with some random guy I don't know, and marched into battle against an army wearing yellow and red shirts with a balloon as my only weapon.

In other words...

The mp3 experiement was so awesome! I wore a blue sweatshirt, so look for me when the pictures get posted!

Oh, and I also got a haircut today!! It's really short, shorter than I've ever had it before. I will post pics from the mp3 thing if I can find any good ones with me in them. :D

I even saw Charlie Todd, in the flesh! He was participating with us. I just wanted to go up to him and hug him and tell him how cool he was. I actually could have hugged him, since that was one of the things Steve (the omnipotent voice from above) told us to do, but I couldn't find him in time.

Best day EVOR!!

Some XKCD shirts I want (need!)

ahhh

WHY DID I GO TO BED EARLY WHEN I MY CLASS IS AT 1 PM???

Oh, and happy October, by the way. I just noticed right now.

Only one month 'til NaNoWriMo craziness!!

It's freezing in here.

This is an odd thing to admit at 4:16 AM... but I can't think straight when I haven't talked to Chris for a couple of days, even just ONE night throws me off a little. Jeez, I haven't even met the guy, only heard his voice, and now I'm going just a little insane.

I went to bed way too early, at like 8:30 PM, because I watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (and wanted to catch up on all the sleep I lost from going to bed at 2 or 3 AM every night). I always go to bed so late, it's weird to wake up around that time. Now I'm just listening to the sounds of various garbage machines, street cleaners, and the L making that little dinging noise when the doors are closing. (I didn't know it ran THIS late...)

I feel like staring at the traffic lights for a while, maybe try to figure out a pattern, and if it's regular. In a city as crazy as this, I suppose there should be some kind of order.

I hear the L again, it sounds so lonely when everything else is so quiet.

Skype is fun!

I'll never stop spinning once I make it to Texas...

=A pic I will photoshop, eventually...

Lemon Powered Gameboys!!

Click.

OK, now this is just ridiculous...

So I got invited to this group today... and people are now pretending to be Mark Zuckerberg (I can see the little thing under the "a"), and promising to switch back to the old facebook is x amount of people join. This is crazy! I can't believe so many people are falling for this...

Anyway, I'm listening to the Hydrogen Jukebox right now! I would have tuned in sooner, but I had class, and just realized it was on. Anyway, yeah, there's some pretty good music.

I'm still a little bit iffy on the genius feature, but...

...the new iTunes has generally made me satisfied!

The last visualizer kinda looks like a sperm though, I'm not gonna lie. It's so cute though... just groovin' to my music as it tries to make it's way down the fallopian tube.

Giant Radioactive Rubber Pants!!

So today in class, I learned how to draw on music, and turn sound into moving images. (We hacked the data! Woo! :D) Also, everyone got their computers to mess up by downloading a program made by this artist. (The picture of my computer messed up is in the previous post. Don't worry, my MacBook is perfectly fine!) In my other class, we learned about the 1st amendment, and other laws related to journalism.

Fun stuff... except for the whole caffeine overdose that made me feel like dying.

This is the only way I can describe part of how I felt: "Invader's blood marches through my veins... like, giant radioactive rubber pants! The pants command me. Do not ignore my veins!"

Also, I would get the feeling of going up in an elevator... while I was on the ground. It was kind of amusing to my friend, Jasmyne, when I would randomly grab onto things to keep my balance... when we were sitting down in the Corner Bakery eating lunch.

bleghddadrojfaewfnilaefj

I'm never having coffee ever again! It makes the ground move, and when I speak I emphasize the wrong words in my sentences!!!

And I generally feel really sick right now...

Facebook drama...

There are so many facebook groups that promise the same thing: that Mark Zuckerburg will change facebook back permanently. Unfortunately, I have reason to believe that these are scams, as I don't really wanna join ten groups that all promise the same thing. It's just like the "ZOMG LET'S SEE HOW MANY PPL CAN JOIN DIS GROUPP!!11!!!!1!one!!eleven!!!" fad. In fact, I believe that it's the same exact thing. *sigh* Someone has to go around and delete all those.

These groups are all so annoying, like it's "cool" to hate the new facebook. Arg, I think I'm going to just stop caring... and deal with the new facebook. The information may be all jumbled and ill-presented to me, but at least the information is there. And it does have some cool new features, like the weird "live feed," which makes it more stalker-ish.

I just don't want my wall in my feed. Get out of there! Shoo! Go back to the bottom where you belong!!

This group is particularly suspicious... "...so we can get teh 5,000,000 we need to get the good o facebook back permanitly cause the creater promissed me (casue i know him and i got connections if u know what i mean) so plz plz plz plz invite friends and join this group"

I know this is a little old, but... HOW IS BABBY FORMED??

Epiphany as I roll back into the dorm at 4:25 AM...

For the first time since I got here, I have realized this: I can do whatever the fuck I want!! :D

Politics, A Short Play

(lights up on facebook)

Karina: (status update) Karina likes her bacon sans spiders, thank you very much.

Will: i dont know, i think you're asking a bit much.

Karina: would you eat bacon if it had spiders crawling around on it??

Will: "i want my bacon with out spiders! i want my bacon without asbestos! i want my bacon not contaminated by radiation!" puhlease. all you do is want, want, want.

Karina: :( Sorry, it's just that bacon doesn't usually COME with spiders... I didn't mean to cause such a commotion!

Will: says who!?? i believe in a world where bacon AND spiders can live together as brothers and sisters. that's why i'm voting for barack obama/ biden for president.

Karina: i believe in obama's policy's, just not the one where he supports the bacon-spider unity. maybe i should vote for mccain/palin, since they support the segregation of spiders and bacon?

Will: yeah, you'd think that.. but did you know that john mccain has voted against bacon 90% of the time??

Karina: WHAT?? I don't BELIEVE this... he's pro-spider????? :O

(blackout)

I noticed that Will posted this on his tumblr, but then deleted it! So I posted it here.

What I learned in class today...

"All film actors eventually commit suicide." -The exact words of my film teacher, Jon.

:)

I got the old facebook back! Somehow, I felt immensely relieved to see such a familiar layout... where I know exactly where to find everything, and my profile looks exactly the way I want it to look.

Abstraction

In my class, we're doing a project called "form to abstraction". I started with a still life of a phone, and this is the first of 12 drawings in which I have to make the phone even more and more abstract. By the end, it should look a lot more like this:

But yeah, unlike what I originally thought, an artist doesn't just put a bunch of lines and colors on a canvas and call it "art." I've learned that they actually go through a process, by starting with one image (like a tree) and ending up with something completely different (like the piece by Piet Mondrian above).

So yeah... there's your art lesson of the day!

OXBLOW!!!

Yeah, so Ox-bow was pretty fun. The best part was the jam session... with my teacher! And other students! At midnight!

The worst part was finding a spider in my bacon this morning...

I'm never having bacon again! X(

In other news, the big exciting event of NANOWRIMO is approaching ever so fast. It's only a month and a half and a way, and I feel like I should start planning my novel already. Or maybe I can just wing it this year... hmmmmmm. OR, I should even start thinking about whether or not I should even DO NaNo this year!

Hm...

I didn't think about that for long. I definitely have to do it. Hells yeah, I'm gonna write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days! I just can't wait to get all stressed out about homework, and classes, and NaNo, and (if I get a job) work! I can't wait to go around the corner and have my intense writing sessions with a cup of tea and my Mac Book Pro. I can't wait to complain about how stressed I'm making myself, on purpose! I can't wait to meet all the Chicago people who are going to be writing all at the same time!!!

Man, I get waaay too easily excited... I think I almost 'gasmed because of it. That's how much I love writing. And NaNoWriMo.

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Greetings from nowhere!

I kinda forgot, but my blogs birthday was last Thursday!! Happy birthday Defenstration Masquerade! Oh, and right now I am blogging from my iPod touch in Saugatuck, Michigan, because I'm at a little place called Ox-bow for the weekend. Very, very interesting place so far.
